The Big News
“Governor Koster Calls Bali a Garbage Emergency” from Merdeka (Indonesian): Bali Governor Wayan Koster said that Bali is currently in a state of waste emergency. "Bali is in a state of waste emergency, so the source-based waste management program is urgently needed to be implemented in the village (or) sub-district and traditional villages," said Koster on Monday. The governor's decision stipulates a strategy for resource-based waste management in villages or sub-districts and traditional villages. In it there are restrictions on the behavior of producing a lot of waste, requiring residents to sort out waste in their households, forbidding residents to throw garbage into other villages, and limiting the use of single-use plastic materials.
“Bali Beach Clubs Still Violating Prokes” from Tribun Bali (Indonesian): Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan announced the evaluation of PPKM on Monday. "We will gather regional heads from the 43 regencies/cities in Java-Bali to immediately identify and intervene in order to contain the trend of increasing cases," said Coordinating Minister Luhut. Coordinating Minister Luhut revealed that there were several violations that were still found in a number of clubs and restaurants in Bali. “We found several violations in the field, mainly in several restaurants and beach clubs in the Bali area. The beach club and bars operates without capacity restrictions, no distance settings, and no sanctions from the manager for violating health protocols during activities. There is no compulsion to scan the Peduli Protect QR Code, so the numbers do not represent field conditions," he said.
“Preparations for Mandalika WSBK Have Reached 100%” from Antara: Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said that preparations for the World Superbike in Mandalika have reached 100%. In attracting tourists, especially domestic ones, the ticket price for the international racing event had been adjusted. Initially, the tickets were sold in package for three days of entry at IDR 770,000. Currently, the tickets can be purchased separately for each day. The tickets are priced at IDR 150,000 for the first day, IDR 200,000 for the second day, and IDR 300,000 thousand for the third day. The new price is considered to be in accordance with the purchasing power of the local community.
Context: The slight reduction in prices follows on from considerable media coverage regarding the event being priced out of the reach of residents. As of yesterday, the fully vaccinated rate in Central Lombok was around 36%, while 71% of the eligible population had received their first dose.

Meanwhile, for vaccinating children who do not attend school, for instance, street children, the government will cooperate with the Social Affairs Office, Tarmizi said. “Pfizer Covid-19 Medicine Rivals Molnuvirapir” from Antara: Pharmaceutical and vaccine manufacturer Pfizer has introduced a COVID-19 antiviral medicine that is claimed to be better than Molnuvirapir, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin has said. "Molnuvirapir is the same as the one that made Ivermectin. Is there a rival? There is. Just released by Pfizer today, but as far as in terms of getting approval, Molnuvirapir is still a bit behind," he said here on Monday. Approval for Molnuvirapir has been obtained from the United States Food and Drug Administration, he noted. Thus, it is safe to be given to patients confirmed positive for COVID-19 who are yet to be hospitalized, he added. “Bali Government Says Lack of Foreign Tourists Due to No Direct Flights” from Merdeka (Indonesian): Acting Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, Tjok Bagus Pemayun, said that the lack of foreign tourist arrivals was not due to the three-day quarantine policy, but more because there is no direct flights to Bali. In addition, it is also related to the quarantine policy in each country for its citizens who are abroad, as well as the validity of business visas. "I don't think so (the reason for the three-day quarantine). It's just that other countries are almost the same, all of them have quarantines. Only the first is direct flights from tourist-producing countries, there is still no one of them," Pemayun said on Monday.
