The Bali Beat Adds New Head Writer
Julia Winterflood joins team amid coverage & content expansion plans
This newsletter, which began as a mental health exercise and quickly turned into a passion project, has since evolved into something bigger than I’m able to manage alone. To continue developing The Bali Beat as a useful resource for anyone interested in the island, it’s necessary to move this from a solo project to a team effort, and the time has come to welcome our first teammate.
From today, April 1, the newsletter will be compiled each morning by Julia Winterflood. Julia is fluent in Indonesian and has called Bali home since 2015. With a background in media, education, public health, and international events, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience - far more than I can claim - that will ensure that each issue brings readers a comprehensive, informative roundup of the news that matters on the island.
In response to your feedback to our recent reader survey, we’ll be making some changes to the newsletter and announcing new projects in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you updated on those, and will disclose the full results of the survey soon. So keep your eyes open for that.
As I hand over the reins, I’d like to say a sincere thank you to the 1,500+ people who read the newsletter every day. You’ve made me feel welcome on this beautiful island, and every person who has reached out to me with personal thanks, feedback (both good and bad), as well as a little financial support, have made me feel less alone during this lockdown that has isolated us all.
If you want to let us know how we’re doing, or if you see some news hat we’re not covering that we should, or if you’d just like to reach out to Julia and welcome her to the team, you can always drop us a line at TheBaliBeat@outlanders.global.
Stay tuned!
